After you have written numerous cover letters and resumes, the most exciting letter to write is the job acceptance letter. With today’s job market being so difficult, it feels great to write a letter accepting a long awaited position.
Even if a company calls you to extend a job offer, it is still proper to write a letter graciously accepting their offer. Not only does a letter of acceptance make a good impression on the company about you as a person, but it shows your gracious attitude. Sure you already have impressed them enough to get the job, but you haven’t actually worked yet, so this shows your tenacious nature.

Letter Should Be Courteous
This letter should be courteous and also take an opportunity to specify things about the position so that both parties are clear. Sometimes in the heat of the moment, and all the excitement from the job offer, you may misunderstand specifics about the position or pay, this letter will finalize everything.
If you have not received a job contract, this will give you a chance to just clarify the deal. Always start the letter with the date and use the appropriate letter format, even if sending an email. Begin the letter as you would any other letter with the proper salutation.
Even if you know the parties first name, always address them as Mr. or Ms. and not by their first name. The last thing you want is them to feel you are being too personal and not addressing them properly. Include a short introduction on your letter and be sure to express appreciation for the job offer early on.
Get Clear Understanding On The Terms
The job acceptance letter can be as broad or as general as you want. If days off and comp time is important to you, make sure to specify how much vacation and such that has been discussed. It is vital to have a clear understanding on the terms of your employment before you work the first day.
If there is anything not clear about the job offer, make sure to address it because this can bring up issues later on. The purpose of this letter is to let you verify the terms of employment before beginning the job. Be sure to name the exact position and include the name of the company lest there should be any confusion.
Be sure to let the company know how thankful you are for the position. Companies want their employees to be eager to work and have a great attitude. Those who have good attitudes seem to go further in the company than those with poor attitudes. Put your best foot forward and show the company that you are ready to dig in and get to work.
